Ali Rellinger - President
Ali began volunteering with ARF in 2008 cleaning kennels and helping at adoption events at Petsmart. When the Rangeline facility opened, Ali took the opportunity to get more involved with ARF and became a shift leader as well as a leader of the newly formed Behavior and Evaluations team. In 2012, Ali joined ARF's Board of Directors. She also served as Secretary from 2014- 2015 and she's been elected Vice President in 2015 and president in 2016. Ali currently teaches high school biology at the Alabama School of Math and Science and is finishing her Ph.D. in Marine Sciences at the University of South Alabama/Dauphin Island Sea Lab. Ali lives with her husband, two dogs (Parker and Violet), 5 pet turtles and a constant rotation of ARF foster dogs.
Ginger Welch - Treasurer
Ginger became dedicated to animal rescue in February 2009 when she adopted her beloved Paris Hilton from ARF. Prior to joining ARF she was a volunteer and Treasurer at a local cat rescue. Ginger joined ARF as a volunteer in 2014 and has taken on many roles such as foster coordinator, adoption counselor and kennel volunteer. Ginger joined the Board of Directors as Treasurer for the 2015-2016 term. She recently began a new role as Director of Catteries, ARF's cat program. In her professional life, Ginger is an HR Program Manager for IBM. Ginger lives with her husband and their furrbabies: Fluffy Jackson and Sofia Grace, both adopted from ARF, and Ellie Kate, their adopted blind cat.
Rachel Stewart - Vice President
Rachel began voluteering at ARF in 2010 after she adopted a puppy, Stormy and wanted to get more involved. She moved away from the Mobile area for a couple years but when she returned ARF was moving to its present location and she jumped right back in to volunteering as a Shift Leader, foster parent and as a a leader on the Behavioral and Evaluations team. Rachel joined ARF's board of directors in 2012. She's been elected Secretary for the 2015-2016 term. She also still co-leads the Behavior and Evaluations team with Ali and is actively involved as a foster parent and adoption coordinator. Rachel has previously worked as a vet tech but recently went back to school where she is enrolled in the nursing program at University of South Alabama. Rachel lives with her husband Ryan, 3 dogs (Ginger, Stormy and Grady), a foster dog or two.
Crystal is a mom of 3 with one in college while homeschooling her other two. She and her children have been volunteering with ARF since 2013 when her daughter wanted to get involved with animals! During summer 2014, she also took on the volunteer role of ARFange Director where she oversees day-to-day operations of our rescue center that houses approximately 60 dogs and 35 cats. Crystal has joined the Board of Directors for the 2015- 2016 term. In her spare time, she enjoys fishing and lazy days on the boat with her husband and kids. Crystal also has 5 rescue pets of her own. You can find her almost any day of the week volunteering her time at either the Cat or Dog building at ARF.
Natalie Cumbaa - Secretary
Natalie has a life-time love of all living creatures and thanks to a friend began volunteering with ARF in 2012. She started as a kennel duty volunteer and hasn’t looked back! She is currently serving as the Director of Education and Outreach and has joined the Board of Directors for the 2015-2016 term. Natalie’s main focus is to work with groups of all ages and backgrounds from scouts to church youth groups and high-school service groups introducing them to the world of rescue. In her day-to-day life Natalie is a Ph.D. candidate in Marine Sciences at University of South Alabama studying the amazing microbe known as Archaea and works as a Post-doc fellow in an Ecotoxicology lab directing research and mentoring graduate students. She lives with her husband, two cats, Mr.Miyagi & Falkor, and her dogs Luna & Fran (a corgi mix adopted from ARF).
Jenny began volunteering with ARF in the Fall of 2010. After just one kennel shift, she was hooked! She quickly became a foster parent for many dogs and took on increasing roles such as Shift Leader. She also volunteers on the Behavior and Evaluations team. Jenny joined the Board of Directors for the 2015-2016 term and you'll find her organizing many adoption events around town. Jenny works full time as a production specialist and attends the University of South Alabama part time. Jenny says that "between school, work and ARF, I don't have much free time but I wouldn't want it any other way!" Jenny is our only board member to not have any personal pets but she keeps her home plenty full by fostering dogs. She often takes on special cases who need some extra TLC.
Abi began volunteering with ARF in 2010. She has spent many years faithfully volunteering as a cat care provider and has also expanded her volunteering to include fostering both dogs and cats. Volunteering has been a family affair and you'll often find Abi volunteering side by side with her mother. They both help out at our numerous offsite adoption events. Abi joined the Board of Directors in 2015 and serves as our Director of Finances. Abi is also actively involved in fundraising and oversees ARF's beer stands at South Alabama Jaguar Football games. You'll always see her there with a team of volunteers serving up cold brews to help raise funds for our dogs and cats. Abi is a Mobile native and lives with her boyfriend, 3 cats, 2 dogs, and various foster animals. She has been an animal owner and lover for over 30 yrs.
In 2005, Mary retired from a career in medical technology. Lucky for ARF, she decided to come volunteer shortly after Hurricane Katrina. Her "plan" was to volunteer once or twice a week but she was quickly wooed by the kitties and the rest is history. Now, she's been ARF's "cat lady" for nearly a decade! Although, Mary has served as Director of Catteries for many years she recently retired from running the day-to-day aspects of the cat program and passed the torch to Ginger, our treasurer. She continues to be a familiar face around the ARFanage and is involved with the cat program. Mary joined ARF's Board of Directors in 2009 and she has come back for her fourth term for 2015-2016 as an at-large Board Member. Mary is a Mobile native and she lives with her cat - of course, an ARF rescue!
